YES, let’s try on nutrition here !!!! I know nutrition isn’t new , however it’s not easy to find nowadays in this pre-wrapped, drive thru, fakery bakery, fast food world we now live in.Let’s be honest here , when was the last time you read and understood every ingredient on the label of everything you ate in a day? Now for those of you who are very meticulous I applaud you! Keep in mind the ever changing science and the ever changing label regulations that allow food manufacturers to ” hide ” ingredients you may be trying to avoid. Staying informed is a daily challenge.
Seriously, it can feel like a full time job keeping up with all this nutritional information out there! I know, I know it’s enough to make us crazy , “hangry” and food frustrated! That said, its no easy task! Especially in a world where we want what we want when we want it and patience is hard to come by .I get it , with fast food joints and convenience markets on every flipping corner. It’s just way too easy to make the least nutritious choices day after day.
On top of that...
We are so bombarded with messages of this “Eat whatever you want and just take this pill” – ” Here’s a box of packaged meals , eat this to lose weight” – ” Cut out entire entities of food groups and you’ll be thin” – ” Take all these supplements and you’ll get everything you need” Then on the flip side of this message you hear…..”Treat yourself with sugary delights all day because you deserve it!” – “. Relax with your your favorite sugary treat, you deserve it” and my personal favorite …… ” You got up on time and made it to work early so you deserve a yummy surgery snack “
Are you kidding me with these crazy messages????……and the question here is -where is the nutritional value in any of this? No wonder we are all so confused!!!!! I mean honestly these crazy messages make me laugh, cry and frankly want to scream when I see it on TV or online and when I listen to this stuff on the radio when I’m driving around.I promise if your everyday routine has you warming one meal up in the microwave and then going to the drive thru for a “pick me up” and then a second meal and/or a third meal , you’re most likely not fueling your body what it really needs.
Let’s keep this real simple- We need to eat real food to nourish our real bodies.We need nutritious fuel to function at our very best.
Here’s the gist of it...
Nutrition is what your brain/body is actually craving all day! Seems simple enough right! Nutrients are what truly fuel us and keep us in our best health. Healthy protein, carbohydrates, fats and the breakdown of micro-nutrients -herbs and spices and levels of water . It can vary person to person . Everyone is different. It can vary depending on your goals . You don’t have to be perfect 100% of the time . You do need to know your nutrition so you can make the best choices for yourself .
